About the Life in the UK Test
The Life in the UK Test is a computer-based exam required for most applicants for British citizenship (naturalisation) and Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) / Settled Status. It's booked and sat at an official test centre, consists of 24 multiple-choice questions drawn from the official handbook "Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents" (3rd edition), and must be completed in 45 minutes. You need to answer at least 18 out of 24 questions correctly (75%) to pass.
How our mock tests work
We built a bank of 158 unique questions covering every topic in the official handbook — British values, history, government, culture, and everyday life — and split them into 20 full mock tests of 24 questions each, using a deterministic shuffle so every test gets even topic coverage with minimal overlap. How many mock tests are free?
The first 3 of the 20 mock tests are free for everyone. Premium unlocks all 20 for a one-time payment of £9.99, with no subscription.
Do the mock tests use the same questions as the real test?
The real test draws from the official handbook's question pool, which isn't published verbatim by the government. Our 158-question bank is written to cover the same topics, format and difficulty so you're well prepared, but no site can guarantee the exact wording of the real exam.
How is the pass mark calculated?
You need at least 18 correct answers out of 24 questions, which is 75%, in 45 minutes — the same format and pass mark as the official Life in the UK Test.
Can I retake a mock test I've already completed?
Yes, you can retake any unlocked test as many times as you like. Your best strategy is usually to retake a test after reviewing your mistakes to confirm the material has stuck.
Is my progress saved if I close the browser?
Yes, your scores and progress are saved locally in your browser's storage, so they'll still be there next time you visit on the same device and browser — just don't clear your browser data.
